Ingredients: Ground Beef Chili

  • 3 lb ground beef (I have made this with 2 lbs and it was enough for my family)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 celery ribs, chopped
  • 2 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained (16 oz)
  • 1 can tomato puree (29 oz)
  • 1 jar salsa (16 oz)
  • 1 can beef broth (10.5 oz)
  • 1 cup (to 2 cups) water
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp steak sauce (A1 or Heinz 57)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp browning sauce, optional (I never put this in)
  • 1 Top with additional chopped onion, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, sour cream, and oyster crackers if you'd like!

How to Make Ground Beef Chili

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Ground Beef Chili in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In large pot (I always use my Dutch oven) brown ground beef with onion, green bell pepper and celery. Drain
  • Step 2
  • Stir in all other ingredients, bring up to a boil, and then down to a simmer for 30 minutes, uncovered, or until desired thickness.
  • Step 3
  • Top with onion, cheese, sour cream, and oyster crackers if you'd like!
