  • pasta
  • 1 lb mild italian sausage links cut into 1/2 " slices
  • 15 cup baby kale, cleaned and dried
  • 1 large red onion, cut in half then cut into thick slices
  • 1 lb dry pasta, cooked to package directions. I used small elbow
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 7 grinds of fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup hot water to deglaze pan
  • 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cup four cheese blend shredded cheese( parmesan, provolone, romano, mozzarella)
  • 1 tsp oil to saute sausage

How to Make Hearty Sausage Onion Kale Pasta

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 12 steps you must follow to make Hearty Sausage Onion Kale Pasta in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a large dutch oven, I used a ceramic coated cast iron one, add 1 teaspoon oil.
  • Step 2
  • Set temp to medium. Once oil is hot, add in sausage chunks. Don't stir.

  • In the meantime, pasta should be cooking and just about ready to drain.
  • Step 9
  • Cook kale about 6-7 minutes until fully wilted. Turn off heat and add one half of shredded cheese. Stir.
  • Step 10
  • Add cooked drained pasta. Top with olive oil and rest of cheese.
  • Step 11
  • Stir then serve nice and hot!
