Ingredients: Homemade Tater Tots

  • 4 russet baking potatoes ( about 3 pounds ) Baked in a 400 oven until tender about 45 minutes depending on potato size. Cooled.
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp grated extra sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp melted butter, salted or unsalted
  • Sauces,to serve with the Tater Totd
  • 1 recipe Chipotle dip/dressing ,recipe attached in direction step # 9
  • 1 recipe Spicy Ranch/Dipping sauce recipe attached in direction step #9
  • Ketsup and/ or melted butter or Sour Cream

How to Make Homemade Tater Tots

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 10 steps you must follow to make Homemade Tater Tots in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 425. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Step 2
  • Have ingredients ready to prepard
  • Step 3
  • Peel potatoes and shred on the large holes of a box grater into a bowl. Don't pack down
  • Step 4
  • Grate Onions and garlic on the smallest holes of the box grater.
  • Step 5
  • Combine all remaining ingredients with potato, onion and garlic EXCEPT butter and toss lightly but thoroughly, don't pack down.
  • Step 6
  • Form potato mixture into 1 inch logs, working with a light pressing to mold Don't compact to much or they will be heavy rather than light.
  • Step 7
  • Place on parchment lined baking sheet and brush tops lightly with melted butter.
  • Step 8
  • Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven, turn each potato over and lightly brush this side with butter, return to oven for 15 to 20 minutes more until golden and crispy
  • Step 9
  • Serve with Spicy Ranch Dip and Chipotle Ranch Dip. Which are attached here and or ketsup or melted butter.
  • Step 10
  • NOTE; These can be frozen individually and reheated in a 400 oven on a parchment lined baking sheet until re crisper, turning once about 5 to 10 minutes
