  • 1 cup short grain rice
  • 11 cup water
  • 1 salt
  • 1 dash vegetable oil

How to Make Hong Kong styled congee

    Step 1
  • Wash rice
  • Step 2
  • Soak rice overnight in just enough water (about 1cup to cover the rice) along with a pinch of salt and a dash of vegetable oil
  • Step 3
  • Blend rice with blender or food processor to break down farther
  • Step 4
  • Pour mixture into a large pot and add 10 cups of water
  • Step 5
  • Bring to a rolling boil, stirring continuously
  • Step 6
  • Boil and stirr continuously for 45min, adding additional water as desired for consistency
  • Step 7
  • Can be eaten with toppings
  • Step 8
  • If you prefer, you can also add raw meats and vegetables then boil till all is cooked.
