Ingredients: Instant Tofu Nuggets

  • 2 blocks Firm tofu (1 block = 400 g)
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 Egg
  • 400 ml Dried panko
  • 2 tbsp Katakuriko
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Soup stock granules
  • 1 Salt
  • 1 White or black pepper
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder (optional)
  • Japanese Worcestershire-style sauce
  • 1 Ketchup
  • 1 Mustard

How to Make Instant Tofu Nuggets

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Instant Tofu Nuggets in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Drain the tofu very well. One 400 g block will become about 250 g to 300 g.
  • Step 2
  • Put the onion in the bowl of a food processor and switch on! When it's chopped up add all the other ingredients and turn on the switch! Taste and adjust the seasoning.
  • Step 3
  • When the mixture turns into a paste, adjust the texture. Add panko if it's too soft, and add a bit of water if it's too stiff. It should be about the consistency of uncooked hamburger. Divide into bite-sized portions.
  • Step 4
  • Form the portioned paste into oval shaped patties, deep fry in oil and they are done. If you press the back of a fork into them before frying they'll look like chicken nuggets.
  • Step 5
  • This is after I've portioned the paste from Step 3 with a small ice cream scooper into bite-sized pieces.
  • Step 6
  • I deep fried them at 180°C.
