  • 1/2 cup fine yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup cake flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 1/4 cup confectioner' s sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

    Step 1
  • Butter and lightly flour 8" round cake pan
  • Step 2
  • In medium bowl, combine cornmeal, cake flour, and baking powder, whisking well to mix; set aside
  • Step 3
  • In electric mixer, using paddle beater, beat together, the softened butter, and almond paste on high speed until smooth, about 5 min
  • Step 4
  • Reduce speed to medium then add sour cream and cornmeal mixture, and mix until just blended
  • Step 5
  • Bake at 350* for 35 min or until the color is golden and batter pulls away from side of pan
  • Step 6
  • Remove from oven, place pan on wire rack, cool
  • Step 7
  • Turn cake out of pan, place on serving platter and dust with confectioners sugar
