  • 25 grams active dry yeast
  • 15 grams salt
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 600 grams flour
  • 140 ml olive oil, extra virgin
  • 400 ml warm water
  • 1 rock salt

How to Make Italian Focaccia Bread

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 8 steps you must follow to make Italian Focaccia Bread in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Melt the salt, the sugar and the dry yeast into the water. Put the mix into a bowl
  • Step 2
  • Add 40 ml of oil and half of the flour. Mix until homogeneous
  • Step 3
  • Add the rest of the flour and knead until you have a rounded dough.
  • Step 4
  • Pour ~50 ml of oil on a rectangular baking pan. Put the dough in the middle
  • Step 5
  • Let the dough rise at 28-30°C for 90 minutes ( you can use the oven with just the light turned on)
  • Step 6
  • Flatten the dough using the hands, put a bit of oil on it and spread rock salt. Let it rest again for 30 minutes
  • Step 7
  • Press the dough with the fingers to make the typical holes you see in italian focaccia.
  • Step 8
  • Spread oil on it, let it rest other 30 minutes and then put it into preheated oven (200°C) for at least 15 minutes... enjoy!
