Ingredients: Italian style meatloaf

  • meat
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 lb ground beef, lower fat is better
  • veggies
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 each bell peppers
  • 1 each fresh basil, about a handful
  • 6 clove garlic
  • other
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese
  • 4 grinds black pepper
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup Bread crumbs or rolled oats
  • topping
  • 3 cup tomato sauce

How to Make Italian style meatloaf

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 14 steps you must follow to make Italian style meatloaf in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Step 2
  • Put all your meat into a large bowl
  • Step 3
  • chop your onion, I happen to use green onions this time because that's what I had this time, but usually I use regular yellow onion
  • Step 4
  • Chiffonade (cut in strips across the width) your fresh basil
  • Step 5
  • Dice your garlic cloves
  • Step 6
  • Dice your bell peppers, I had baby ones so I used more since they were small.
  • Step 7
  • Break your eggs into a small bowl and scramble them. Add to meat bowl.
  • Step 8
  • Add all the rest of the ingredients to the meat bowl
  • Step 9
  • Mix well, I just use my hands.
  • Step 10
  • Form a loaf, this is on a 9 X 12 roasting pan.
  • Step 11
  • If you desire, about 10-15 minutes before finished, spread the tomato sauce on top to allow it to cook in. I am not a big fan of doing this, so I don't.
  • Step 12
  • Cook for 60-70 minutes, an internal temp of 160°F.
  • Step 13
  • Let rest about 5-10 minutes before cutting.
  • Step 14
  • This time I served with corn, Pablo pepper rice.
