  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup shortening

  • 1 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup jam or preserves any flavor

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Step 2
  • Mix the brown sugar, butter, and shortening in a medium bowl.
  • Step 3
  • Stir in the remaining ingredients except the jam until crumbly.

  • Press half of the oat mixture in an ungreased 9 X 13 inch baking pan.
  • Step 5
