  • For a 12 inch skillet increase ingredients:
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk or buttermilk
  • 3-4 tablespoons oil

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 3 steps you must follow to make Jan's Cornbread in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Pour oil in an 8 inch iron skillet and place in oven at 400 degrees until oil sizzles.
  • Step 2
  • Mix cornmeal, egg, milk and sugar in bowl. Pour hot oil over cornmeal mixture, stirring lightly and return to skillet.
  • Step 3
  • Bake in 400 degrees oven until golden brown. About 30 minutes.
