    Step 1
  • I used Shinsei's "Peeled Roasted Sesame Seeds". They say it's good for digestion since it's peeled.

  • Chop the kabocha into small chunks. Put into a microwave-safe container. Pour a modest amount of water on top, then cover with a plastic wrap, and microwave for 3 1/2 minutes at 600W.
  • Step 3
  • Drain the water and mash with a fork. To evaporate excess water, microwave 1 minute at 600W without the plastic wrap.
  • Step 4
  • Add sugar, salt, and sesame seeds into the kabocha prepped in step 2, then mix together. Dish it up, top with sesame seeds if you wish, and serve.
  • Step 5
  • You could arrange it on a serving dish, or squeeze the tops with a plastic wrap for a cute shape. Also good for bentos.
