Ingredients: Karjikai

  • filling
  • 10 grams sugar
  • 10 grams jaggery
  • 25 grams dry coconut
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (white)
  • pinch cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp fried Gram
  • oil to deep fry
  • dough
  • 25 grams flour
  • 10 grams Semolina
  • pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1= water

How to Make Karjikai

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Karjikai in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Make a soft dough and rest it for 30 min
  • Step 2
  • Grate the coconut; lightly fry poppy seeds and seasame seeds
  • Step 3
  • Powder the jaggery and fried gram
  • Step 4
  • Mix all the ingredients of filling. Divide the prepared dough in to small portion and role to thin disc.
  • Step 5
  • Place the prepared filling 1 tsp in the centre and fold to half moon shape and seal properly
  • Step 6
  • Add the oil and deep fry prepared karjikai
