  • 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 egg yolks plus one whole egg
  • 1/2 cup key lime juice, about 16-20 key limes
  • 2 tsp key lime zest
  • 2 tbsp sugar

How to Make Key Lime Pie

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Key Lime Pie in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Step 2
  • Once heated bake pie shell for 10 minutes. While this bakes, prepare filling.
  • Step 3
  • In mixing bowl, mix sweetened condensed milk, eggs, lime juice and sugar. Mix well.
  • Step 4
  • Once shell is ready, add in pie filling.
  • Step 5
  • Bake an additional 15 minutes.
  • Step 6
  • Let cool and refrigerate for 2-4 hours.

  • You may top with fresh whipped cream.
  • Step 8
  • Here's a quick recipe. Take 2 1/2 cups very cold heavy cream, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract and 1/2 cup regular sugar. Beat cream and vanilla until it starts to become thick in volume. Slowly add sugar. Top cooled pie.
