  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped finely
  • 1 salt/ pepper to your taste
  • 1/2 kg green beans chopped into 1 inch. pieces
  • 3 large tomatoes, diced
  • 1 tsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp sugar

How to Make Lebanese Green Beans

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Lebanese Green Beans in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in large pan and add onions.
  • Step 2
  • Add salt/pepper. Over medium heat, stir until onions become translucent.
  • Step 3
  • Add chopped green beans, mix and cover for about 5 min. on low heat.
  • Step 4
  • When green beans are tender (change in color also), add chopped tomatoes. Mix and cover for another 5 min.
  • Step 5
  • Add tomato paste and sugar. At this point if the tomatoes have not released enough liquid, you can add 3 tbs. There should not be too much liquid.
  • Step 6
  • Cover and simmer for a final 2 min. Green beans should be tender, tomatoes should be saucy. Enjoy at room temp. or cold. Tastes even better the second day. Serve with pita bread.
