Ingredients: Loaded Mashed Potatoes

  • 5 lb Potatoes cut and peeled (you can leave skins on if desired)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 lb Bacon cooked and crumbled (you can also use about 5 oz. bacon bits if you are looking for simplicity)
  • 3 Green Onions finely chopped
  • 3 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I like to use sharp cheddar)
  • 1 Salt and Pepper to taste ( I like to use a lot of both!)

How to Make Loaded Mashed Potatoes

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Loaded Mashed Potatoes in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Once the potatoes are chopped into like size pieces and peeled as desired, place in cold water and bring to boil. After about 10 minutes of boiling use a fork or knife to check if the potatoes are tender.
  • Step 2
  • Drain potatoes and place in a large mixing bowl.
  • Step 3
  • Add sour cream, milk, and butter to the potatoes . Mix with an electric mixer until potatoes are smooth and creamy.
  • Step 4
  • Stir in chopped chives, 2 cups of cheese, and bacon. Add salt and pepper.
  • Step 5
  • Layer the potato mixture in a 3 qt. Baking dish and top with the remaining cheese.
  • Step 6
  • Bake uncovered in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F.
