  • 250 ml castor sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 15 ml smooth apricot jam
  • 310 ml all-purpose flour
  • 5 ml bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 ml salt
  • 30 ml butter
  • 5 ml white vinegar
  • 125 ml milk
  • Sauce
  • 250 ml fresh cream
  • 125 ml butter
  • 125 ml brown sugar
  • 115 ml water
  • 30 ml brandy (optional)

How to Make Malva Pudding

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Malva Pudding in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C
  • Step 2
  • Beat the castor sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy
  • Step 3
  • Add the smooth apricot jam and mix well.
  • Step 4
  • Sift the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt together.
  • Step 5
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the the vinegar and milk.
  • Step 6
  • Fold the flour and milk mixtures alternately into the egg mixture.
  • Step 7
  • Pour into a medium to large greased baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  • Step 8
  • Place all the ingredients for the sauce into a saucepan and stir over moderate heat until the butter has melted and the sugar dissolved.
  • Step 9
  • Pour over the hot pudding as soon as it comes out of the oven. Pierce the pudding several times with a skewer so that the sauce can be absorbed. Serve with custard or cream.
