  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 4 eggs

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 nut filling
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 cup golden raisins-optional
  • 1/2 can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 lb ground walnuts
  • 1 cup evaporated

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 8 steps you must follow to make Mary's nut roll in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Combine ingredients for filling. Use enough canned milk so that mixture can be spread over dough.
  • Step 2
  • Combine 1/2 cup canned milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, mix and heat to Luke warm. Add yeast. When double in size add 3 eggs, sour cream, salt, and softened butter.
  • Step 3
  • Gradually blend in 6 cups all purpose flour to the mixture one cup at a time.
  • Step 4
  • Mix and cover for 30 minutes

  • Separate dough into 5 pieces.
  • Step 6
  • Roll out to 1/4 inch thick and spread filling over entire surface. Roll dough from smallest end. Place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.let rise for one hour.
  • Step 7
  • Beat egg and 2 tablespoons of water and brush on top of rolls. Poke holes with fork across top of nut roll nan bake in a 350°F oven for 350-40 minutes
  • Step 8
  • Mix 1 cup powdered sugar with a teaspoon vanilla and two tablespoons milk. Spread ed evenly over cooled rolls.
