Ingredients: Mesquite BBQ Fried Chicken

  • 3 lb skinless boneless chicken breast halves (I used breast tenderlines)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp black pepper
  • 6 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 tbsp dry mesquite flavored seasoning mix
  • 4 cup oil; for frying
  • 1 (12oz) bottle BBQ sauce (I used spicy BBQ sauce)

How to Make Mesquite BBQ Fried Chicken

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Mesquite BBQ Fried Chicken in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, water, milk, 2tbs salt and 2tbs pepper- until smooth.
  • Step 2
  • In another large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, 1/4 cup salt, 5tbs pepper and mesquite seasoning. (You can add extra pepper and mesquite seasoning if you want a bit more flavor.)
  • Step 3
  • Fill a large skillet halfway full of cooking oil. Heat to 365°F (180 degrees C).
  • Step 4
  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150 degrees C).
  • Step 5
  • Use a fork to pick up one chicken strip at a time, dip it into the egg mixture, then into the flour mixture, back into the egg mixture and into the flour mixture again.
  • Step 6
  • Place coated strips into the hot oil to fry. Don't over crowd, cook in batches. I usually do two or three at the same time depending on size. Once chicken is browned on one side, flip over and brown the other side.
  • Step 7
  • Place your fried chicken on a cookie sheet. Pour the BBQ sauce over the chicken. You can add a little or alot. I just did a little- spread over the tops.
  • Step 8
  • Bake for 10/15 mins, until the sauce is caramelized onto the chicken.
  • Step 9
  • Doesn't it smell good? Now eat it!
