  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp oregano

  • 2 small onions, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 12-ounce can of chopped tomatoes, drained
  • 1 8-ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 1 6-ounce can of tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 lb cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 lb lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 packages of provolone cheese, sliced

How to Make Mom's 70s Lasagna

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Mom's 70s Lasagna in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a large saute pan over medium heat, cook the garlic and onions in the olive oil until the onions are translucent.
  • Step 2
  • Add the ground beef cook stirring until there is no more pink.
  • Step 3
  • Add the drained can of diced tomatoes, sugar, salt, basil, oregano, and black pepper. Mix well and let simmer for 1 hour covered.
  • Step 4
  • While the ground beef mixture singers, prepare the lasagna noodles according to package directions. Place in a colander and rinse well with water. Drain and set aside.
  • Step 5
  • Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and the water. Continue to simmer another 30 minutes and the set aside to cool.
  • Step 6
  • Preheat the oven for 350°F.
  • Step 7
  • Grease a 9x13 baking dish with olive oil. In the bottom of the dish, thinly spread some of the meat sauce and then a layer of noodle.
  • Step 8
  • On the noodles, spread a thin layer of the cottage cheese and then a layer of provolone. Repeat the layers until the meat sauce is gone.
  • Step 9
  • Sprinkle the top with mozzarella and parmesan and bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Let rest for 15 minutes and serve.
