  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced across the grain
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • for the sauce
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil

How to Make Mongolian beef

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Mongolian beef in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, 2 teaspoons vegetable oil and 1/2 cup water. Heat soy sauce mixture in a medium saucepan until slightly thickened, about 5-10 minutes; set aside.
  • Step 2
  • In a large bowl, combine flank steak and cornstarch.
  • Step 3
  • Heat 1/2 cup vegetable oil in a large saucepan. Add beef and fry until browned and cooked through, about 1-2 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate; discard excess oil.
  • Step 4
  • Add beef and soy sauce mixture to the saucepan over medium heat and cook until sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in green onions. Serve immediately.
