  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 small Asian pear, julienned or cut into paper-thin slices
  • 1/2 Korean cucumber, seeded and then julienned or cut into paper-thin slices
  • 1/4 cup pickled radish
  • 1 Cooked brisket or beef shank, thinly sliced
  • 1 OPTIONAL: ice cubes at end of preparation or wasabi to taste.

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make mul naengmyn (cold beef noodles) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Mix chicken and beef broths together with vinegar
  • Step 2
  • Add more salt or vinegar to taste
  • Step 3
  • chill in refrigerator 30 minutes or add ice cubes at the end of prep.
  • Step 4
  • Cook noodles according to package
  • Step 5
  • Drain noodles and rinse well in cold water to stop cooking and eliminate some excess starch.
  • Step 6
  • Distribute noodles into bowls, mounding at bottom.
  • Step 7
  • Pour a generous amount of chilled broth and a few ice cubes to cover almost of all of noodles
  • Step 8
  • Place half a boiled egg, cucumber and pear slices, pickled radish, and brisket slices on top of noodles.
  • Step 9
  • NOTE: you can buy pre-packaged broth and noodles at the asian market. if you don't have an asian pear, add 2 tsp of sugar or sliced apple.
