  • 5 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 clove Minced garlic
  • 3 tbsp White miso
  • 1 dash Ichimi spice
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Mirin
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 100 ml Kombu based dashi stock (※granules dissolved in water)

How to Make My Family's Sesame Dipping Sauce (for Shabu Shabu)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 3 steps you must follow to make My Family's Sesame Dipping Sauce (for Shabu Shabu) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Grind the toasted sesame seeds well in a suribachi (Japanese mortar) until the oil comes out and they become moist (Like in the picture.)
  • Step 2
  • Add garlic, and continue grinding lightly. Add the rest of the ingredients from the top of the list in order. Mix well and it's done!
  • Step 3
  • If the suribachi is too small, when you pour in the dashi stock, transfer the ingredients from the mortar to a larger bowl.
