  • 1/2 cup Dried couscous
  • 1/2 cup Boiling water
  • 1 tbsp of oil like rice bran or olive
  • 1 pinch Dried or fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp Dried onion flakes
  • 1 tbsp Pre-fried dried onion flakes (found in international or Asian food shops)
  • 1 tbsp of quality soy sauce (add more to taste if needed)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Naughty French Onion Flavoured Couscous in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Note: all ingredients are for a single serve. Very simple to make a bigger batch though :-)
  • Step 2
  • In a heat proof bowl add the dried onions, thyme, couscous and oil. Make sure it is all flat and level. No need to mix ingredients.
  • Step 3
  • Gently pour in the boiling water and then the soy sauce. Carefully jiggle the bowl so that the liquid is evenly distributed. Again, don't mix it.
  • Step 4
  • Place a saucer or layer of tin foil over the top to keep the heat in. Set aside for 5-7mins so it can absorb all the liquid.
  • Step 5
  • Remove the cover and fluff up with a fork to serve.
  • Step 6
  • Can be easily reheated in the microwave if making ahead of time and is fantastic the next day. Just add a touch of water if it seems dry before reheating.
