  • 2 cup Self raising flour
  • 3 cup crown pumpkin, cooked, mashed and well-drained

  • 500 ml Oil for frying
  • 3 tbsp Baking powder
  • Syrup
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Castard sugar
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

How to Make Pampoen Pofers

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Pampoen Pofers in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Ensure that the cooked pumpkin is well drained.
  • Step 2
  • Beat eggs, add to pumpkin and mix.
  • Step 3
  • Sift the self-raising flour, salt and baking powder together and mix with pumpkin to form a soft dough.

  • Heat oil in a saucepan(or bigger) over medium heat.
  • Step 5
  • Scoop batter into frying oil using a dessertspoon and fry until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Step 6
  • Drain on kitchen paper.Keep warm in serving dish.
  • Step 7
  • Syrup 1. Add a little of the cold water to the custard powder and mix to form a smooth paste 2. Heat the rest of the water in a saucepan and dissolve the sugar in it. 3. Add butter and cinnamon and bring to the boil. 4. Stir in the custard powder paste and boil for a minute.
