  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz ham or pancetta
  • 15 oz Cannellini beans
  • 16 oz peeled crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 8 oz Ditallini pasta
  • 1 salt & pepper, to taste

How to Make Pasta Fagioli

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Pasta Fagioli in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a soup pot, sautee onions and ham in olive oil until onions and ham are translucent and a light golden color.
  • Step 2
  • Add celery and continue sauteing a couple minutes longer. Add beans and crushed tomatoes plus two cups of water, wine and salt and pepper.
  • Step 3
  • Bring to a boil then lower heat and cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
  • Step 4
  • Cook pasta separately, adding just before soup is served.
