  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cup sugar, divided
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla, divided
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk (1/2 of 14oz can)
  • 1/2 can evaporated milk (1/2 of 12oz can)
  • 1/3 cup Frangelico, Chambord or brandy (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream

How to Make Pastel de Tres Leches

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Pastel de Tres Leches in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  • Step 2
  • Sift flour and baking powder together and set aside. Cream the butter and 1 cup of the sugar together until fluffy. Add the eggs and 1/2 tsp of the vanilla. Beat well.
  • Step 3
  • Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, 2 tbsp at a time, mixing well until blended. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  • Step 4
  • When cake has finished baking, pierce it in 8-10 places with a fork. Let cool completely.
  • Step 5
  • Combine the whole milk, evaporated milk, condensed milk and liqueur and pour over top of cooled cake. Refrigerate for at least two hours before serving
  • Step 6
  • When ready to serve, combine the heavy cream and the remaining teaspoon of vanilla and 1 cup of sugar, whipping until thick. Spread over top of cake. Keep any remaining cake refrigerated. Serve chilled.
