  • 1/2 cup Finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove Minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup All purpose flour
  • 1 cup Half and half
  • 1 cup Hot water
  • 1 Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup Velveeta cheese
  • 3/4 cup Medium salsa
  • 1/2 cup Sour cream
  • 5 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
  • 1 Cajun Seasoning to taste
  • 2 Green onions chopped
  • 1 box Penne pasta

How to Make Penne with Chicken and Southwest Cheese Sauce

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 10 steps you must follow to make Penne with Chicken and Southwest Cheese Sauce in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Melt butter and saute onion and garlic until onions are translucent
  • Step 2
  • Add flour and stir. Cook for 5minutes stirring constantly
  • Step 3
  • Mix half and half and water and slowly add mixture to flour mix. Stir or whisk constantly until mixture is smooth. Cook for 3minutes
  • Step 4
  • Add salt, cayenne, lemon juice and hot sauce. Stir well and add parmesan cheese

  • Do NOT boil
  • Step 6
  • Add Velveeta cheese
  • Step 7
  • Once cheese is melted add salsa and stir. Add sour cream
  • Step 8
  • Season Chicken breasts generously with Cajun Seasoning and Broil 8-10 minutes per side or until done
  • Step 9
  • Cook pasta according to package directions
  • Step 10
  • To serve, laddle cheese sauce over some noddles (just enough to coat it), stir well, top with sliced chicken. Garnish with green onion
