Ingredients: Pie Crust

  • 3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 eggs
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1 tbsp vinegar

How to Make Pie Crust

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Pie Crust in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Mix together the dry ingredients with the shortening so that it's fine crumbs.
  • Step 2
  • Mix together 1 egg, 1/3 cup cold water, 1 tbsp clear vinegar in separate bowl. Stir wet ingredients into dry mixture.
  • Step 3
  • Divide this into 4 balls and you have your 4 crusts.
  • Step 4
  • Roll out each ball on a floured surface a bit larger than your pie pan.
  • Step 5
  • When you transfer the crust to the pie pan, fold the crust in half downwards, then fold it across so it is 1/4 the size. Then when you place in pan simply unfold
  • Step 6
  • Once you have the filling in, wet the rim of the bottom crust to bind the two together. Cut slits in the top crust for ventilation. Sprinkle a little sugar on top for some added flavor and appearance.
