Ingredients: Polish Mess

  • 4 medium potatoes, cubed
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 2 packages kielbasa, sliced
  • 1 olive oil (or preferred cooking oil)
  • 1 salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp Balti Seasoning (Penzey's Spice)

How to Make Polish Mess

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Polish Mess in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat 1tablespoon cooking oil in large, deep-sided skillet or dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sauté the kielbasa in the skillet until browned, about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove kielbasa from pan with slotted spoon to plate and set aside.
  • Step 2
  • Add 2 tablespoons oil to skillet and add cubed potatoes to the skillet and cover. Cook 7 minutes stirring once.
  • Step 3
  • Remove lid from skillet and stir potatoes. Add chopped onions and stir to distribute. Cook until onions are softened and potatoes golden brown.
  • Step 4
  • Once potatoes and onions are cooked through, add the garlic and stir to combine. Immediately following the garlic, add the cabbage, salt, pepper, and Balti Seasoning and stir or toss to combine. Cook 2-4 more minutes until the cabbage is softened. Add the cooked kielbasa back to the skillet and cook 1-2 more minutes or until heated through.
  • Step 5
  • Spoon into individual dishes or plates and top with Sriracha. Serve hot.
  • Step 6
  • (Cook's Note: For a brunch top each individual plate with a dippy fried egg!)
