    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 180 C
  • Step 2
  • line a bunt cake pan with margarine and flour
  • Step 3
  • in a medium size bowl, beat the egg yolks with 200 grams of sugar. Beat it until fluffy

  • add the margarine, the orange juice, and grated peel of one of the oranges
  • Step 5
  • beat with electric mixer, stir the baking powder into the flour, and than add it to the mixture

  • in another bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.

  • add the rest of the 50 grams of sugar and beat until forms high peaks
  • Step 8
  • gently fold the egg white mix into the yolk mixture
  • Step 9
  • place in oven for 45 minutes or if tooth pick comes out clean
  • Step 10
  • while cake is baking, prepare syrup by caramalizing the sugar with the orange juice to a boil
  • Step 11
  • when cake is ready, remove it from the pan and poke some holes around it with a fork while the cake is still hot. Than pour the syrup on top
  • Step 12
  • optional: can sprinkle grated orange peel on the top
