  • 1 large sliced onion
  • 2 large diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 salt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 4 medium diced potatoes
  • 1 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 cup or glass rice (uncooked)
  • 1 cup or glass chicken stock
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup water

How to Make Potato and pea rice

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Potato and pea rice in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a saucepan and cook onions until translucent.
  • Step 2
  • Add tomatoes, all the spices and water. Let it cook until tomatoes are soft. (you can blend this now or can also leave it to cook a little more until oil gets spirited from tomatoes and onions).
  • Step 3
  • Add potatoes, peas and a glass of water or as much it takes to cover the vegetables. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until water gets evaporated.
  • Step 4
  • Add chicken stock and rice. Cook on medium heat for about 25 minutes or till all of the water is absorbed by rice.
  • Step 5
  • Cover the lid of pan with a cotton napkin nd heat on the lowest flame for 10 more minutes.
  • Step 6
  • Serve out with coriander flavoured yogurt.
