  • 1 envelope Yeast - or 2 1/4 tsp
  • 3 tbsp Light brown Sugar
  • 2 cup All purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp Butter plus More for topping baked bread
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 cup Baking Soda
  • Coarse salt (Sea Salt)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Pretzel Homemade in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Warm milk into medium bowl. Sprinkle yeast and wait 2 minutes. Then add Brown sugar and 1 Cup Flour and stir with wooden spoon.
  • Step 2
  • Dice soften (2 Tbls) Butter then add to mixture. Add gradually, rest of flour and Salt. Dough will be sticky. Knead more flour in just to make dough manageable. Make a ball, cover good with plastic wrap and let rise in a slightly warm place for 1 hour.
  • Step 3
  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Butter or grease baking sheet. After risen, Punch down dough and form 6 balls. Roll each into a rope and form your pretzels. Cover dough to keep from getting dry.
  • Step 4
  • Large pot, dissolve baking soda in 4 cups water. Bring water to good heat, not boiling. Dip each pretzel dough in water for 1 minute. This is the most complicated part and takes practice. Arrange each on buttered baking sheet. Bake 10 - 12 minutes.
  • Step 5
  • Melt butter to brush each, then sprinkle with course salt.
