  • 2 can 15 oz pink or red beans with sauce
  • 4 tbsp sofrito (easier to find the Goya brand in freezer aisle)
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1 envelope sazon (Spanish seasoning)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp adobo (Spanish season salt)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large potato, quartered
  • 1 can 4 oz tomato sauce
  • 5 each spanish green olives with pimento
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water

How to Make Puertorican WHITE Rice and Beans

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 3 steps you must follow to make Puertorican WHITE Rice and Beans in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Boil rice as directed on package with salt (usually every cup of rice is 2 cups of water). Set aside.
  • Step 2
  • In a medium pan, heat sofrito & onion until onion almost translucent.
  • Step 3
  • Combine rest of ingredients, EXCEPT RICE, & bring to a boil. Then simmer until potatoes are fork tender. About 30 minutes. If needed add a little chicken broth or water to keep saucy.
