  • 3 to 5 pounds slab spareribs or baby back ribs
  • 1 cup water (approximately)
  • 1 32 ounce jar sauerkraut, rinsed
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of your favorite rib seasoning (rib rub from Penzey's is a great choice)

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 300°F.
  • Step 2
  • Rub the ribs with your seasoning of choice.
  • Step 3
  • Put the ribs in a large pan that will hold the whole slab.
  • Step 4
  • Add enough water to just cover the bottom of the pan.
  • Step 5
  • Cover with foil and bake for 3 hours.
  • Step 6
  • Cut into pieces or remove the meat from the bones.
  • Step 7
  • Cover and keep warm.
  • Step 8
  • Add the sauerkraut to the liquid in the pan.
  • Step 9
  • Make sure sauerkraut is at least halfway covered with liquid. If you need to, add water.
  • Step 10
  • Put in the oven and cook about 1 hour.
  • Step 11
  • When the sauerkraut is your desired doneness, remove the pan from the oven.
  • Step 12
  • Serve with the ribs and enjoy.
