  • 2 tbsp chicken gravy granules
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 potatoes, chopped
  • garlic salt
  • bunch coriander, chopped
  • 1/2 Green pepper, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 2 hot dogs, chopped
  • 1 tbsp bacon fat
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
  • 300 ml boiling water
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

How to Make Rice and Potato Soup

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Rice and Potato Soup in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat the oil and bacon fat and added the onion, fry the onion for about 2 minutes over a medium heat.
  • Step 2
  • Add the rest of the vegetables (not the coriander). Fry for about 3 minutes or until the vegetables become soft. Stir often.
  • Step 3
  • Add the hot dogs and Worcestershire sauce and fry for a further 2 minutes.
  • Step 4
  • Add the rice and water and bring to the boil, with lid on.
  • Step 5
  • Next add the the granules and salt. Cook the rice for around 10 minutes. If it becomes too thick after adding the granules add more water if desired.
  • Step 6
  • Add in the coriander and Continue to cook until done.
  • Step 7
  • Check seasoning and serve. You can serve this as a thick soup or just as rice depending on how you prefer to have it.
