    Step 1
  • The day before, boil the potatoes with the skins on and cool.
  • Step 2
  • Peel the potatoes, then slice with a rösti slicer (but if you don't have a slicer, you can use a knife to finely shred it).
  • Step 3
  • Add half of the butter in a heated frying pan and add half of the shredded potatoes from Step 2. Spread it out into a disc.
  • Step 4
  • Evenly spread out Step 3, then top with salt, pepper, and the remaining potatoes.
  • Step 5
  • Heat over low-medium heat for about 10 minutes while occasionally pressing gently down on the top with a spatula.
  • Step 6
  • Use a plate to help flip it over, then cook the other side the same way for about 10 minutes over low-medium heat.
  • Step 7
  • It's ready when both sides have a delicious yellow color! Transfer to a plate and enjoy!
  • Step 8
  • Variation: Add sautéed onion, bacon, cheese, etc. during Step 2. Adjust the salt accordingly.
