  • 3 Large Idaho Baking Potatoes
  • 2 Cups Mashed Cooked Turnips
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/4 Cup Hot Milk

How to Make Ruben Kartoffel (Potatoes and Turnips)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 3 steps you must follow to make Ruben Kartoffel (Potatoes and Turnips) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Cut baked potatoes in half lengthwise and scoop out inside.
  • Step 2
  • To the scooped out potatoes add mashed turnips, butter, salt, pepper and milk and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Step 3
  • Pile lightly into potato shells and bake in hot oven (400 deg.) 5 minutes to brown lightly. (I like to add a small amount of shredded cheese to the top before baking making them more like a twice baked potato. My 10 could not till the difference and ate it right up.)
