Ingredients: Saffron Rice

  • 1 orange bell pepper
  • 1 handful dried barberries (or dried cranberries)
  • 1 cup rice, uncooked
  • 1 pinch saffron threads
  • 2 cups water
  • to taste seasoning
  • olives (optional)

How to Make Saffron Rice

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Saffron Rice in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Slice the pepper as thinly or as roughly as you like. Fry in a tablespoon of oil in a pot over medium high heat
  • Step 2
  • As soon as it becomes fragrant (5 min), add washed barberries. Stir
  • Step 3
  • Next, add saffron (I added quite a generous pinch) and rice. Stir everything
  • Step 4
  • Lower the heat then add water. Stir until most of the liquid is absorbed (15 min), then take off heat and cover with a lid for about 10 minutes
  • Step 5
  • Taste and season to your liking. Serve with olives if desired. Enjoy :)
