  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 lb fresh ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pecorino romano cheese
  • 4 fresh bread rolls

How to Make Scicilian Panelle Special

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Scicilian Panelle Special in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In pot add chickpea flour & water and pinch of salt & wisk well
  • Step 2
  • put on medium flame & continue wisking...do not stop until batter thickens
  • Step 3
  • once batter thickens remove from flame & spread on wet marble or formica top...spread out evenly to a 1/4 inch thickness ..try to make a square
  • Step 4
  • when batter cools cut into squares the size of your rolls
  • Step 5
  • fry the patties in a frying pan with the oil of your choice until golden brown on both sides..u will have to flip them in frying pan
  • Step 6
  • remove & set aside to cool some
  • Step 7
  • cut roll in half & put 3 panelle patties on roll...add generous scoop of fresh ricotta on top of patties & sprinkle shredded cheese on top of ricotta
  • Step 8
  • bake sandwich in oven until cheese melts & bread is lil toasty
  • Step 9
  • eat & enjoy
