Ingredients: Shrimp and Grits

  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 1 lb large shrimp
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 8 oz grits
  • 1 can vegetable of your choice
  • 1 chicken broth (optional)

How to Make Shrimp and Grits

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Shrimp and Grits in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Cook Grits according to package. (You can use chicken stock to give it more flavor.) Once finish cooking add salt and pepper to taste. Cover pot and set aside.
  • Step 2
  • While grits are cooking, chop white onion into slivers and set aside.
  • Step 3
  • Add olive oil to a saute pan. Once it's hot, add onion and stir. Once onion begins to get tender, add shrimp.
  • Step 4
  • Add salt and pepper. Continue to stir shrimp and onion until shrimp are done. Cut heat off.
  • Step 5
  • Spoon grits unto plate. From the pan, pour shrimp and onion mixture over the top. Juices from the pan give the grits extra flavor.
  • Step 6
  • Serve with a side vegetable and Enjoy!
