  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can best chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp chilli powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt or salt substitute
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 300 ml water

    Step 1
  • Peel and clean beetroot and cut them into 1 inch chunks
  • Step 2
  • Put oil into large pan and heat, when hot put in the bay leaf and seeds, after a few seconds when leaf has darkened add all other ingredients stir gently and add 300 ml water

  • Stir and gently simmer for 30-40 minutes until tender. Remove bay leaf and serve with juices
