  • 1 Konnyaku
  • 1 medium Carrot
  • 1 section Lotus root
  • 10 cm Kombu for dashi stock
  • 500 ml Dashi stock
  • 2 tbsp ★Mirin
  • 3 tbsp ★Sake
  • 3 tbsp ★Soft light brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp ★Soy sauce

How to Make Simmered Soybeans

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Simmered Soybeans in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Soak the beans in water overnight and then boil in the same water for about 45-60 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • Use kombu that was used to make dashi stock. Refer to this recipe to make the dashi.
  • Step 3
  • Parboil the konnyaku. Cut every ingredient into 1 cm cubes.
  • Step 4
  • Place Step 1, 2, the dashi stock, and the ★ ingredients to a pot and simmer on low heat until the liquid evaporates (about 40-45 minutes).
