  • 2 Squid
  • 2 Potatoes
  • 100 ml Sake
  • 100 ml Dashi stock
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Usukuchi soy sauce

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Simmered Squid and Potatoes in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Remove the entrails from the squid, and cut into rings.
  • Step 2
  • Cut the potatoes into 1 cm half-moon shaped slices. Soak in water to wash off the surface starch.
  • Step 3
  • Simmer the dashi stock and sake in a pot. Add the squid and cook until it changes color. Remove from the pot.
  • Step 4
  • Add the potatoes into the same pot. When it boils, add the sugar and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the soy sauce, and continue to simmer.
  • Step 5
  • When the potatoes are almost done, put the squid back into the pot and continue to simmer some more.
