Ingredients: Simple Cornbread

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 packages baking powder (16g)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ground black pepper
  • 200 grams cottage cheese, crumbled (not cream cheese!)
  • 20 ml yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 eggs

How to Make Simple Cornbread

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Simple Cornbread in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Combine dry ingredients: put flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl
  • Step 2
  • Whisk wet ingredients in a separate bowl (cheese, yogurt, milk, oil and eggs)
  • Step 3
  • Slowly pour the wet ingredients in the dry, making sure they're well combined
  • Step 4
  • Pour the batter in a greased pan (I baked my cornbread in a 35cm loaf pan, traditionally it is baked in a tray). Bake at 200°C for 20-30min
  • Step 5
  • Brush with some more olive oil or butter if desired and enjoy :)
