Ingredients: Smoked BBQ Chicken

  • 2 lb dark meat chicken (legs or thighs)
  • 1 - 16 oz bottle bbq sauce (plan)
  • 2 tbsp miss dash
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp lawery's seasoned salt
  • 1 shot of bourbon
  • 6 oz beer

How to Make Smoked BBQ Chicken

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Smoked BBQ Chicken in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Mix all the ingredients together. (not the chicken)
  • Step 2
  • Layout two large sheets of heavy duty tin foil. Put the chicken on 1 sheet of tin foil and add 1/2 the bbq sauce. Then wrapped chicken up tightly. Wrap with second sheet of tin foil sealing it as tightly as you can.
  • Step 3
  • Set up the bbq grill for Indirect Grilling. You want a temperature of 350°F.
  • Step 4
  • Place the chicken over the drip pan and close the lid. Cook for 30 minutes that flip the foil pouch over and cook 30 minutes more.
  • Step 5
  • Remove foil pouch from the grill and cool for 5 minutes. Open up tin foil and "gently" remove the chicken. Return the chicken grill over the drip pan and bush with bbq sauce. Add a handful of damps wood chips for the fire. You want to maintain a temperature of about 250°F.
  • Step 6
  • When the smoke dies down, in 15 to 20 mins. Turn and brush the chicken with bbq sauce and add another handful of damp wood chips.
  • Step 7
  • When the smoke dies out turn the chicken and brush with bbq sauce and add another handful of damp wood chips. (yes, 3 smokings and 3 glazing of bbq sauce).
  • Step 8
  • Let the chicken rest before serving.
  • Step 9
  • Total cooking time is about 2 hours.
