  • 5 large potatoes
  • 1/2 large onion
  • 4 strips of bacon-cooked
  • 1 bunch mushrooms (optional)
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 5 cup milk
  • 2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 salt and pepper

How to Make Smokey Potato Soup

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Smokey Potato Soup in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Brown bacon, rough chop and set bacon aside. Add the bacon grease to the pot you're going to make your soup in
  • Step 2
  • Add butter/margarine and let it melt. Add the all purpose flour and stir til smooth
  • Step 3
  • Add chicken broth and milk. Bring to boil
  • Step 4
  • While it's coming to a boil, half cook the onion ( I dice my onion so it cooks quickly)
  • Step 5
  • When base is boiling, add the onions, potatoes, bacon (and mushrooms if you choose to)
  • Step 6
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for at least an hour or until potatoes are soft, stirring occasionally
