  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Shortening. or sub 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter (texture will be slightly different)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (plus 2-3 Tbsp)
  • 1 cup M&M's (plus extra)
  • 1/2 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips

How to Make Soft-baked M&M/Chocolate Chip Cookies

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Soft-baked M&M/Chocolate Chip Cookies in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Step 2
  • In a large bowl, mix the brown sugar, white sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla with electric mixers on low speed until well mixed.
  • Step 3
  • Add the 2½ cups flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined. Add the extra tablespoons of flour until the dough feels thick and almost dry to the touch. Stir the M&M's and chocolate chips into the dough.
  • Step 4
  • Roll into large or small balls and place on a baking sheet,1-2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with your hand or with a wooden spoon. Press M&M's into the top of each cookie.
  • Step 5
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes (they will be slightly under baked). DO NOT OVER BAKE! Cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes and remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
