  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar

  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil
  • 2 1/4 All-purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 3 Food dye/coloring

How to Make Soft Sugar Cookies ~Rainbow~

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 11 steps you must follow to make Soft Sugar Cookies ~Rainbow~ in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, egg, vanilla, and oil.
  • Step 2
  • In a different bowl, mix together all of the dry ingredients.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture; mix well.
  • Step 4
  • Separate the dough equally into three small bowls. Add desired food coloring to each bowl of dough. Blend until well combined.
  • Step 5
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • Step 6
  • Roll out each ball of dough into 3 flat rectangles onto three separate sheets of wax paper. Stack on top of each, wax paper side down.
  • Step 7
  • Roll out each ball of dough into 3 flat (desired thickness) rectangles, onto three separate sheets of wax paper. Stack on top of each, wax paper side down. Freeze, 30 minutes-1 hour
  • Step 8
  • Take out sheets of dough, peel off sheets and press together. Roll tightly into a log. Freeze for 30mins-1hour.
  • Step 9
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut cookie dough into 1/2-inch slices and place on a cookie sheet about 1-inch apart.
  • Step 10
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes. Do NOT over bake!
  • Step 11
  • Cookies should be soft
