  • 1 can Condensed Milk ( sweetened)
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Cake wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Maizena
  • 1 tbsp Custard powder
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 200 grams Tennis biscuits
  • 125 grams Margarine
  • 1 tbsp Margarine
  • 1 dash Cinnamon

How to Make South Africa Milk Tart ("Melktert")

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make South Africa Milk Tart ("Melktert") in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Bring milk, 1 tablespoon margarine and condensed milk to a boil.
  • Step 2
  • Mix eggs and salt together
  • Step 3
  • Add cake wheat flour, maizena, custard powder and vanilla essence to egg mixture
  • Step 4
  • Add egg mixture to milk mixture on stove. Bring mixture to boil untill thick. (Watch out... burns easily)
  • Step 5
  • Prepare crust. Crush biscuits and add 125g molten margarine to biscuits. Roll and flatten crust in bowl
  • Step 6
  • Pour mixture over crust and sprinkle with cinnamon. Let cool and enjoy.
