  • 8 cup water
  • 4 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 ham bone
  • 4 cup ham, cubed
  • 2 quart water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • Place split peas and 2 quarts water in large saucepan.

  • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  • Remove cover and continue simmering until desired thickness, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 10
  • Remove ham bone, cut off any remaining meat.
  • Step 11
  • Dice meat and return to soup before serving.
